Norbert Petrovici is an expert in data analysis and a lecturer at the Department of Sociology at Babeş-Bolyai University, Romania. With a 15-year experience, he taught statistics at different levels of complexity, either introductory courses or advanced modeling courses. Its teaching philosophy is that applied statistics can be much easier to understand when practiced on data sets that follow the trainee’s knowledge and research interests.

As a researcher, he is a student of urban economy and culture and has extensively analysed urban and regional data. He has been working for 10 years as an independent professional in urban planning working in the private sector, with various governmental bodies and non-governmental organizations. He was involved in urban regeneration projects and in social change management in areas of infrastructure transformation. He has conducted studies for coordinating and regulating investment in a variety of areas for local and central government. He has carried analysis in urban culture projects to facilitated wider access to various social categories to education, opportunities for self-expression or participatory involvement.

Over the past five years he has participated in over fifty public events as a speaker on urban economy and culture; has coordinated or participated in over thirty workshops; and has participated in more than twenty European conferences organized by professional bodies.
