The KPI Institute’s websites use cookies. This Cookie Policy presents information about how we are using cookies in order to improve your experience on our websites.
This policy applies to all The KPI Institute’s websites, including: www.kpiinstitute.org, www.gpaunit.org, http://www.tkisolutions.com/, https://www.skills.ac/ and www.performancemagazine.org, as well as to all extensions related to these web domains.
Please note that this Cookie Policy may change from time to time, though we expect most such changes to be minor. We will post any Policy changes on this page. We encourage you to read this privacy policy and take notice of how we use cookies.
By using The KPI Institute’s websites and agreeing to this policy, you consent to The KPI Institute’s websites’ use of cookies, in accordance with the terms of this policy.
What are Cookies?
Cookies are small data files sent by web servers to web browsers and stored by the web browsers. The information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables a web server to identify and track web browsers. However, cookies themselves cannot collect any information stored on your computer or your files. When a server uses a web browser to read cookies, they can help a website deliver a more user-friendly service. To protect your privacy, your browser only gives a website access to the cookies it has already sent to you.
Why do we use Cookies?
We use cookies to learn more about the way you interact with our content, to help us improve your experience when visiting our websites. The cookies used by The KPI Institute’s websites include, but are not limited to the following:
- Session cookies – they expire when the browser is closed. We use them for example to enhance your online buying experience, as they allow you to keep items in your basket;
- Persistent cookies – these remain in operation, even when you have closed the browser. We use them for example to remember your login details and password, so you don’t have to type them in every time you use our websites. The law concerning permanent cookies stipulates that they need to be deleted after a period of six months.
- Third party cookies – they are set by a different organization than us, on our websites, to perform their services. For example, we use Google cookies, to analyze your website experience, Adobe Flash Player Cookies to deliver videos and advertising cookies to personalize the ads that are showed to you.
- Secure cookies – they can only be transmitted over an encrypted connection, to make cookies less likely to be exposed to cookie theft via eavesdropping.
- HttpOnly cookies – they cannot be accessed by client-side APIs, such as JavaScript, eliminating the threat of cookie theft via cross-site scripting (XSS). However, the cookie remains vulnerable to cross-site tracing (XST) and cross-site request forgery (XSRF) attacks.
- SameSite cookies – they were recently introduced by Google Chrome 51, and they can only be sent in requests originating from the same origin as the target domain. This restriction mitigates attacks such as cross-site request forgery (XSRF).
- Zombie cookies – they are automatically recreated after being deleted, by storing the cookie’s content in multiple locations, such as Flash Local shared object, HTML5 Web storage and other client-side and even server-side locations. When the cookie’s absence is detected, the cookie is recreated using the data stored in these locations.
Refusing cookies
