The Asian Productivity Organization (APO) was established on 11 May 1961 as a regional intergovernmental organization with the mission to contribute to the sustainable socioeconomic development of Asia and the Pacific through enhancing productivity.

The current membership is 20 economies, comprising Bangladesh, Cambodia, Republic of China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The KPI Institute has implemented starting with 2014 three APO financed Technical Expert Services (TES) programs on Key Performance Indicators (KPI), Productivity Measurement and Analysis with The Thailand Productivity Institute (FTPI) in 2015, NPO Indonesia and NPO Mongolia in 2015.

WorldSkills Romania represents the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for Aurel Brudan, The KPI Institute’s CEO. Founded in May 2016, WSR is meant to become the Romanian chapter of WorldSkills International.

Thus, WS Romania is aligned with both TKI’s vision of achieving sustainable development through improving competences in education, but also with WS’s international mission of showcasing the value of skills and raising the recognition of skilled professionals worldwide.

As of May 2016, WSR has begun the affiliation process to WorldSkills International, aiming to operate as an independent entity working close with the Ministry of Education and developing partnerships with private sector companies.

WSR can count among its chief activities the following:

ALIGNMENT OF EDUCATION WITH LABOR MARKET

  • Facilitate the interaction and the development of common programs between public institutions and companies from the private sector, in the field of education
  • Facilitate the recruitment process in the arts and crafts industries through specific instruments: specialized job fairs, data bases with graduates, communication campaigns, research studies on the labor market

PROMOTING SKILLS

  • On-going activity to highlight the importance of skilled people in a national economy
  • Tailored communication campaigns, online and offline
  • Organizing events: conferences, seminars, fairs, caravans

COMPETITIONS

  • Organizing regional, national and international skills competitions
  • Selecting and preparing talented students and employees for International skills competitions

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Developing and distributing training materials
  • Organizing trainings and workshops

RESEARCH

  • Studies on vocational education and training in Romania, Europe and Worldwide
  • Catalogues with specific standards

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

  • Develop programs to showcase the entrepreneurship skills of students and young professionals
  • Create and manage an Entrepreneurship Center for Skilled Professionals
